Ultranova is a Brazilian Progressive Rock Band, formed by Thiago Albuquerque (piano/synth), Daniel Leite (electric guitar), Príamo Brandão (bass) and Henrique Penna (drums). The idea was to create a band with a unique sonority, as their own identity, without departing from the style to which they were identified in artists like Emerson, Lake & Palmer, King Crimson, Yes and Pink Floyd. They began to stand out in 2012 and from then on the band started to perform at festivals and events sharing stages with renowned brazilian artists such as Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti and Violeta de Outono.

Soon their tracks were reaching some prog-rock web-radios worldwide, and the record company Rock Symphony (Rio de Janeiro/Brazil) invited them to release the debut album “Orion” by their label – that released and distributed some big progressive rock names such as Violeta de Outono, Focus, Le Orme, Nektar and Pendragon, in Brazil. After this contact, Musea Records (France) invited the band to also release the album in Europe – the label even has exclusive distribution of Discipline Global Mobile (King Crimson), Camel Productions (Camel) and Classic Rock Legends (Uriah Heep, Van der Graaf Generator and Genesis).
This good reception led the band to sign with Progshine Records to release their album on the ditial domain in August 2017.

A Ultranova é uma banda Paraense de Rock Progressivo instrumental, formada por Thiago Albuquerque (piano/sintetizador), Daniel Leite (guitarra), Príamo Brandão (baixo) e Henrique Penna (bateria). Fundaram a Ultranova com o intuito de criar uma banda com uma sonoridade única, como uma marca registrada, porém sem fugir ao estilo progressivo que tanto se identificavam de Emerson, Lake & Palmer, King Crimson, Yes e Pink Floyd. Em 2012 iniciaram suas atividades e ao longo dos anos dividiram palcos com grandes artistas como Hermeto Pascoal, Violeta de Outono e Egberto Gismonti.

O moderno som progressivo da banda chamou a atenção da gravadora Rock Symphony (Rio de Janeiro) que os convidou para lançar seu primeiro disco através de seu selo – que já lançou e distribuiu grandes nomes da cena de rock progressivo nacional e internacional como Violeta de Outono, Focus, Le Orme, Nektar e Pendragon. O convite da Rock Symphony abriu as portas para que a Ultranova também fizesse o lançamento europeu de seu álbum “Orion” pela Musea Records (França), selo que inclusive possui distribuição exclusiva da Discipline Global Mobile (King Crimson), Camel Productions (Camel) e Classic Rock Legends (Uriah Heep, Van der Graaf Generator e Genesis).
Toda essa boa repercussão levou a banda a assinar com a Progshine Records para o lançamento digital do disco em Agosto de 2017.

As a Peter Hammill Fan I can only love this. Don’t get me wrong, this ain’t just a copy. The songs are very individual, but they still have that PH Flair. The jazzy inclusions takes it even further away from that, while the vocals brings it back again . But it all fits very well together. Great album 👍 Boris Stalf

Came to this band very late and I must confess only because they were playing various dates with one of my firm favs Kaprekar’s Constant so I thought I’d better take a listen to what they had on offer...and well I now have all three albums and a huge convert...so much so that the neighbours will get to know them too over the next few weeks...if you ever get a chance to watch them live...you are in for a big treat...they command the stage and the audience as their own...
